News from the Forest: "Anybody been working on anything cool lately? The past 4 months have been straight business coding for me other than a couple of side projects that I didn't finish[1]."
I've been programming business apps for a while too and just recently (with the new job) started working with some interesting code. I'm writing software for an almond & pistachio plant. The code I'm working with is doing things like opening and closing doors, reading weights from scales, and controlling other types of machines. What excites me the most is that I get to work closely with our engineering team to make these machines come alive. Lots of bit flipping and socket code. In a way it's kinda getting back to the basics.
check out this snapshot of FeedDemon on my desktop. Awesome!!
It also organizes feeds by "Today", "Yesterday", "Last Week" and so on. Great thinking!
Ottmar Liebert: "I made the point that we can choose not to rely on technology, where we feel it is not adding to our happiness. "
Friends and co-workers ask me why I don't carry a cell phone or pager. Truth is I don't like being on the phone but not too long ago I hit this wall were adding more gadgets to my life made it more complex and fast. What I saw was if I needed these things to function perhaps my life is unnecessarily complex. So I began to look for lifestyle changes.
It's reassuring to see somebody else talking along those lines.
