News from the Forest: "Anybody been working on anything cool lately? The past 4 months have been straight business coding for me other than a couple of side projects that I didn't finish[1]."

I've been programming business apps for a while too and just recently (with the new job) started working with some interesting code. I'm writing software for an almond & pistachio plant. The code I'm working with is doing things like opening and closing doors, reading weights from scales, and controlling other types of machines. What excites me the most is that I get to work closely with our engineering team to make these machines come alive. Lots of bit flipping and socket code. In a way it's kinda getting back to the basics.
